About the "Pepper & Salt" Fabric
“Pepper & Salt” is a fabric originally developed by the Swiss military in the 1930s. During World War II, cotton imports were heavily restricted, prompting the Swiss to blend ramie and nettle fibers to create a new material. This blend produced a unique visual texture with interwoven black and white threads, resembling a mix of pepper and salt—hence the name “Pepper & Salt.”
