Description
The Gotoh GE1996T is a premium licensed Floyd Rose-style double-locking tremolo, made in Japan, widely regarded as one of the best FR-style units available—and a direct replacement for an Original Floyd Rose. It's built from premium components: a hardened steel baseplate, specially processed hardened steel saddles with comfortably rounded tops, and hardened knife edges that resist the wear common to cheaper pot-metal licensed units.
Two standout features are the patented Stud Lock, which locks the pivot studs into their body anchors for a more solid feel and better sound transmission, and the internally-threaded arm holder with a grub screw that sets arm tension precisely so the bar stays put. This unit ships with the 36mm mid-depth brass sustain block, finished in satin black, and includes springs, spring claw, mounting studs, tremolo arm, and hex wrenches. Note: a direct swap for an Original Floyd Rose; replacing other licensed FR units may require minor modification—check measurements and cavity depth before ordering.
