Description
The Gotoh PSP is a set of three power tremolo springs, made in Japan, for guitars with a traditional Strat-style anchoring system or a Floyd Rose-style double-locking bridge. A floating tremolo returns to pitch only as reliably as its springs allow—weak or worn springs let the guitar drift after you use the bar. The PSP springs have roughly 20% higher tension and a strong return capacity, so the bridge snaps back to its neutral point and the strings stay in tune, even with hard whammy use.
Because they're stronger than standard springs, you can often run fewer of them—handy for freeing up cavity space for a tremolo-stopper/setup device, or for balancing heavier string gauges. These are the same springs Gotoh uses in its GE1996T tremolo, supplied as a drop-in set of 3. Note: springs lose tension over time and are a wear item—replace periodically for best tuning stability; you may need to adjust the spring claw after fitting, as the added tension is noticeable.
