Description
The Gotoh SGL510Z-MG-T is the locking version of the SGL510Z, a sealed-gear tuner from Gotoh's 510 series, made in Japan. The MG-T (Magnum Lock-Trad) system puts a knurled thumbwheel on the back of each tuner: thread the string through the post, turn the wheel to clamp it, then tune up. It makes string changes quicker and keeps the string from slipping at the post, while the 1:21 gear ratio gives very fine control when tuning.
This 3Lx3R set uses Gotoh's standard MG-T post on all six tuners: 20mm (0.79") tall, 2.2mm (0.09") shorter than the non-locking SGL510Z's 22.2mm (0.87") post. Each tuner weighs 32.0-38.9 g (1.13-1.37 oz) depending on post and button option, and mounts in a 10mm (0.39") hole with the supplied threaded bushing and washer. Gotoh rates the SGL510Z body as not suitable for 6-in-line headstocks, so this set is for 3-per-side guitars.
