Product Overview
Features:
- Twin internal pickups for natural, true banjo tone with minimal effect on acoustic sound
- Passive design works great direct into acoustic amps; add K&K Pure Preamp if needed
- No-drill install — double-sided tape and self-adhesive fasteners, finish-safe, residue removable with WD-40
- "Catamaran" head-mounting: outer-edge-only adhesive leaves pickup center free-floating, cutting adhesive contact ~40% for better response
- Multi-use endpin jack mounts three ways (external, drill-through, or rim slot)
- External-mount uses K&K's dual-lock system — Velcro-like but far stronger, noise-free, removable for case fitting
- 27mm (~1.06") pickups, 25.4cm (10") cable, high-impedance stereo TRSS endpin jack wired mono
Description:
The K&K Sound Banjo Twin is engineered to reproduce a true, natural banjo voice while adding almost nothing of its own — capturing the instrument's real acoustic character rather than coloring it. Two pickups mount inside the banjo head using K&K's removable "Catamaran" technique, where adhesive touches only the two outer edges. This leaves the center of each pickup free-floating, enhancing response while reducing adhesive surface by roughly 40% for minimal impact on your acoustic tone. The system runs beautifully in passive mode, especially through acoustic amps; if a preamp becomes necessary, K&K's Pure Preamp pairs perfectly.
Installation requires no alteration to your instrument — every component attaches with special double-sided tape or self-adhesive fasteners that won't harm the finish, with any residue cleaned up using WD-40. The included multi-use endpin jack mounts three ways: externally, via internal drill-through, or seated in a slot on the outer rim. The external option uses K&K's self-adhesive dual-lock system — similar to Velcro but much stronger — which opens and closes indefinitely without wear, holds firmly with zero mechanical noise, and lets you temporarily remove the jack so the banjo fits back in its case.
