Description
The Thomastik-Infeld BB111 is the extra-light entry in the Jazz Bebop series, built for players who want real jazz tone with a bit more edge and brightness than a traditional flatwound set delivers. Where other roundwound "jazz" strings compromise on tone, the BB111 is engineered around a vintage-style round core of high-carbon steel — no hex core — allowing the string to vibrate freely with no preferred motion axis, for extra sustain and a gentler treble response than typical roundwounds. The wrap wire is an unusually dense, thin-diameter pure-nickel roundwound that retains the warm jazz coloring while opening the top end into piano-like clarity.
The plain E, B, and G are brass-plated steel; the D, A, and low E are pure-nickel roundwound with silk-wrapped ends that secure the windings and extend playing life. Bebop is Thomastik-Infeld's answer for the jazz player who wants the mellow midrange and controlled tension of a flatwound but with more articulation and sparkle — supple, responsive, easy to play, and remarkably durable. At .011-.047, the extra-light gauge is the fastest, most bend-friendly option in the range. Made in Vienna to Thomastik-Infeld's century-old standards.
