Description
The Thomastik-Infeld BB112T is a tin-plated-treble variant of the light BB112 Jazz Bebop set. The wound strings are identical to the standard BB112 — pure-nickel roundwound over a vintage-style round core of high-carbon steel, allowing the string to vibrate freely with no preferred motion axis for extra sustain and a gentler treble response than typical roundwounds. The unusually dense, thin-diameter nickel winding retains the warm jazz coloring while opening the top end into piano-like clarity. The difference lies in the plain E, B, and G trebles, which are tin-plated rather than brass-plated. The tin coating offers improved corrosion resistance and a slightly warmer, more sympathetic treble response, better matched to the mellow character of the wound strings below.
Bebop is Thomastik-Infeld's answer for the jazz player who wants the mellow midrange and controlled tension of a flatwound but with more articulation and sparkle. Silk-wrapped string ends secure the windings and extend playing life, and the set as a whole is supple, responsive, easy to play, and remarkably durable. At .012-.050, this light gauge is the sweet spot for jazz players who want a slightly firmer feel and more low-end weight than the BB111T, with a treble voice tuned to complement the pure-nickel low end.
