Description
The Thomastik-Infeld GB112 is the George Benson signature jazz set, developed in direct collaboration with the 10-time Grammy-winning guitarist and built to his personal specifications. The plain E and B are brass-plated steel; the G, D, A, and low E are pure nickel flatwound. What sets the George Benson strings apart from Thomastik-Infeld's other flatwound jazz lines is the specific balance of gauges and tension that Benson himself dialed in — designed from the ground up for true intonation across the neck, excellent sustain, and the superior durability required by a working professional's schedule.
Voiced for semi-acoustic and acoustic archtop jazz guitars, the GB112 delivers a mellow, focused timbre with the smooth, silky feel of a proper flatwound under both fingerstyle and pick. At .012-.053, the medium-light gauge sits in the classic archtop sweet spot — firm enough for authoritative chord comping and warm, singing lead lines, light enough for fluid single-note runs and clean articulation up the neck. Made in Vienna to Thomastik-Infeld's century-old standards and used by students and professionals worldwide.
