Description
The Thomastik-Infeld JF324 is the short-scale 4-string entry in the legendary Jazz Flat Wound bass line — the electric bass answer to Thomastik-Infeld's iconic Spirocore upright bass strings, and widely regarded as the reference standard among true flatwounds. The construction draws directly from the upright tradition: a highly pliable round steel core is wrapped with a silk inlay, then finished with a true ribbon flatwound outer winding in a special nickel alloy. The silk inlay increases flexibility and gently damps excessive overtones, while the round core lets the string vibrate freely with no preferred motion axis. Together these elements deliver an incredible depth of tone and enhanced fundamental unavailable from any other flatwound.
Voiced for the warmth, articulation, and dynamic sensitivity of an upright bass in an electric format, the JF324 is a longstanding favorite of players who want organic, focused, minimally-fingered tone rather than the clank and sustain of a roundwound. At .043-.106 in short scale, the set fits most 32"-scale basses, with silk-wrapped ends at both the ball and tuner sides for long-term stability. Made in Vienna to Thomastik-Infeld's century-old standards.
