Description
The Thomastik-Infeld JS111T is a tin-plated-treble variant of the legendary JS111 Jazz Swing light set. The wound strings are identical to the standard JS111 — a true flatwound (not ground wound or compressed) with polished nickel wrap wire drawn over a round core, delivering the glassy-smooth feel and mellow, articulate voice that defines traditional jazz tone. The difference lies in the plain E, B, and G trebles, which are tin-plated rather than brass-plated. The tin coating offers improved corrosion resistance and a slightly warmer, more sympathetic treble response, better matched to the mellow character of the flatwound strings below.
Designed specifically for semi-acoustic and acoustic jazz guitars, the JS111T delivers the same balance of fundamental to overtones the Jazz Swing line is famous for: warm bass definition, bell-like treble clarity, and a silky transition from open chords to bar chords. Tonal life is remarkably long — many players report that the sound actually deepens and matures with age. At .011-.047, this light gauge is the sweet spot for jazz players who want a slightly firmer feel and more low-end weight than the JS110T, while retaining the fluid playability the series is known for. Made in Vienna to Thomastik-Infeld's century-old standards.
