Description
The Thomastik-Infeld RP109 is the Heavy Bottom variant of the Power-Brights series, built for players who want the fluid, super-light bending feel of a .009 top string paired with the chunky, fatter low end of a heavier bottom. The plain E, B, and G are highly flexible brass-coated steel; the D, A, and low E are Magnecore alloy roundwound over a flexible hexagonal steel core. Lighter tops combined with heavier bottoms force the instrument to sustain longer, delivering the ringing, aggressive tone that defines the Power-Brights line.
Voiced with rock and downtuned playing in mind, the RP109 loves distortion. The high output and boosted high frequencies push overdriven amps, delays, and modulation effects to their limits, while the fatter D/A/low E gauges retain focus and definition under drop tunings that would leave a standard .009-.042 set flabby. Especially responsive to tapping, natural harmonics, and dynamic pick attack, this is the Power-Brights choice for lead players who lean hard on bends up top but want rhythm and low-end weight to spare. Made in Vienna to Thomastik-Infeld's century-old standards.
