Description:
The Shubb C5 applies Shubb's patented over-center locking mechanism to narrow-neck instruments. Unlike spring or clamp capos, the soft rubber pad flexes like a fingertip rather than forcing strings down over the fret, and the closing action mirrors the motion of your hand instead of dragging strings off center. The result is the reason Shubb has held its reputation since 1974 — clamp it on mid-set and your tuning stays where you left it.
At 1.5" wide the C5 covers four strings or string pairs, making it the right choice for banjo, mandolin, bouzouki, many tenor guitars and similar narrow fretboards. This is the flat-fretboard version, which suits the large majority of these instruments. On a 5-string banjo the fifth string is handled separately with spikes or a dedicated fifth-string capo. Machined brass with polished nickel plating and a replaceable rubber sleeve.
