Description
The Thomastik-Infeld IBR112T is the Vienna maker's first-ever phosphor bronze acoustic set, extending its century-long tradition of premium tone into new tonal territory. The plain E and B are uncoated steel with a notably slick feel; the D, A, and low E are wound with precise phosphor bronze windings over a steel core. Each wound string carries a silk wrap at the tuner-side end — reminiscent of fine violin string construction — that prevents slipping during installation and makes the string ends less hazardous to handle.
Tonally, the IBR112T reads woody, warm, and balanced, without the metallic clang common to bronze sets. That character suits fingerstyle particularly well, but the strings also shine on single-note leads, barre chords, and jazz comping. Sustain is generous, overtones are present without being overwhelming, and the strings bend easily and return to pitch cleanly. As an uncoated string with minimal slide squeak, it holds its brilliance and stability far longer than expected — a premium option for players who want longevity without the feel of a coating.
