Description:
The Gruv Gear Fump is a bridge-side string dampener designed to help bassists recreate the classic muted tones heard on vintage recordings. By sliding the device over your strings against the bridge, you can instantly achieve a sweet staccato sound without needing to use your palm for muting. This allows you to discover new techniques and gives your hands the freedom to dig in while playing. It is an ideal solution for players who previously used cut foam to achieve an old-school upright or muted tone.
This dampener works best on electric basses where the fingerboard setup has little to no radius. It takes only a second to slide on or off and can be inserted from either the top or bottom of the strings. The Fump delivers a warm, punchy thump that is perfect for Motown, classic soul, vintage country, old-school rock, reggae, and jazz styles. The compact design requires only 2.5cm (1in) of space between the bridge and the rear pickup to function correctly.
